Based in Melbourne, Australia, playwright, screenwriter and character actor, Sean McIntyre has produced and written plays which have been performed in Australia, Ireland and the United States. His play ‘A Kind of Destiny’ has twice been awarded Best Actor (JUDAS) and recently featured as a finalist at Crash Test Drama, March 2012. His short play ‘The Pickup’ was selected as a top 30 finalist from over 1100 plays for Short and Sweet (Melbourne and Sydney, 2005) – the world’s largest short play festival.
A current member of the Australian Writers Guild, his writing includes personal essays, short stories and film scripts.
In August 2010, Sean was accepted into UK’s prestigious Oxford University where he completed a 3-week intensive course in Creative Writing with UK writer Tim Pears (In a Land of Plenty) and script consultant Dr John Ballam (The Road to Harmony). His short story ‘The Tic Tac Men’ was published in an Oxford anthology titled ‘On The Grass’ and he is a regular contributor to its sister publication, 'The Turl Times'. In 2011, he was invited to present the workshop: 'Adapting Your Own Work For Stage and Screen', at 2011 Williamstown Literary Festival.
Sean is creative producer of ‘A Fistful of Scripts’, a script reading series which he created and launched at Theatre Works, St Kilda in July 2010.
Appearing in some 15 short films and feature films, as well as TVC’s and theatre, Sean has also handled media for a range of independent theatre productions, most recently Mark Andrew’s ‘Bomb The Base’ (2011 Melbourne Fringe Festival) and ‘Time’s Arrow’ (La Mama’s Carlton Court House).
He is currently collaborating with Chilean director Marco Romero to co-produce Lounge Theatre, a unique 'micro theatre' project from his new production entity, Jimmy Flinders Productions. Originated by Teatro de Cerca (teatrodecerca.com), this concept has been performed to sell-out audiences in Spain.
Sean continues to plot an assault upon New York’s off-Broadway scene, publish an anthology of his writing and holds onto his dream to spend a minimum of 6 months experiencing life as an ex-pat overseas.

Sean’s recent film roles include a sociopathic Irish mercenary in The Exile of Francis Kinnear. The key support role of the jaded sniper allowed him to work with weapons specialist John Fox, a fully licensed film armourer who has worked on MacBeth, Ned Kelly and Sniper 3.
Sean appeared as 'Gareth' in Obstruction, a satire where desperate times call for desperate measures (Official Selection - 2010 Bayside Film Festival | Jump Cut Program) and Everybody Wants To Be Unique, a comedy about train commuters.

The Pickup
Written in 2005, his 10 minute play - The Pickup - was selected as a Top 30 finalist from over 1100 entries worldwide to Short and Sweet, the world's largest 10 Minute play festival held annually in Australia.
The Pickup’ is a riveting piece that deals with friendship, loneliness and change through the eyes of a backpacker and his guitar. Directed by Caroline Stacey, it was performed nightly to sell out audiences at Melbourne’s prestigious Arts Centre during week 2 from 30 November to 3 December, 2005. It received widespread, mainstream press coverage in Melbourne media.
It also earned selection for the Sydney season of Short and Sweet. Presented in five performances during week 3 of the festival from February 14 to February 19 2006, the script was again a top 30 finalist from 1200 entries worldwide. The play was performed again in Melbourne October 2006, at the Drifters Alibi in Port Melbourne. Directed by Sharni Page (Big Reef – Channel 9) and it featured an impressive cast that included Angus Grant (M.D.A. – Channel 2), Christopher Parker and Hunter Perske (Short and Sweet Week 1, 2006).

Sean has collaborated on and edited screenplays for both short and feature films. As script editor and 1st assistant director on the short film 'All The Kings Horses', Sean was part of a dedicated and hard working team that brought a breakthrough international award.
Shown at the 2004 St Kilda Film Festival, 'All The Kings Horses' also won Best Short Film at the 2004 Downunder Film Festival. Sean also worked the feature film script 'Shackle' as an uncredited script editor.
